The world faces many challenges. Technology and engineered systems can provide solutions to these challenges. To bring these solutions to bear, we need engineering leaders. Furthermore, studies identify the competitiveness gap of the United States in bringing innovations to the market. A common theme across these studies is the need to build worldly, leadership, and professional skills within the engineering profession. We need to produce the leaders who can deliver sustainable solutions to the world’s biggest challenges. Creating these engineers requires an education experience and environment to provide a unique experience environment to learn these skills. eli2 intends to provide this environment and experience.

Mission & Goals

The mission of eli2 is to: Help students discover their burning desire and confidence to create, innovate, and collaborate to deliver world changing solutions.

The image below provides the visual representation of the eli2’s mission. We accomplish this mission to help deliver solutions to the world’s toughest challenges. To deliver world-changing solutions, we believe the engineering leader needs to know how to create, innovate, and collaborate. There are many skills within these key knowledge areas. The specific skills depend on the current career expectations of the students. By students we mean anyone looking to explore, study, and learn about engineering leadership. Students include traditional undergraduate students, working professionals returning to the university to get an advanced degree, or executives looking to learn with other executives.

Our goals are:
  1. Transform the undergrad engineer into a working professional (undergraduate)
  2. Transform the working professional into a project/technical manager (graduate)
  3. Enable the transformation of the project/technical manager into an executive (executive)
  4. Build and share knowledge about engineering leadership and innovation (research )
  5. Build a community of leaders influencing the discipline (partnership and community building).
